1st Place – Whispers to the Moon by Kris Bauske (Full Production) - Marcia Mayfield has returned to the same hotel on the Riviera every August for the last forty-two years. There, she meets up with the one true love of her life, Charles DÁnjou, and they spend two weeks together despite the fact that each is married to someone else. This summer, however, Marcia’s adult daughter shows up unannounced, and Marcia must juggle her efforts to help Carol choose her life’s path while trying to find a way to tell Charles she must finally end the affair. Can Marcia keep her secret from Carol, and is the affair the only secret Marcia’s hiding? What is the dark secret only Charles knows?
Director: Phillip H. Colglazier
2nd Place – Tinfoil Memories by Emily Farris (Stage Reading-2 rehearsals only) – Sam, a vaguely puzzled man, wants an answer to the odd disconnects in his life, such as how his housemate, the kind and patient Gina, knows more about him than two weeks could possibly reveal. When he constructs a tinfoil hat to counter what he thinks are her psychic energies it leads to a conversation that he didn’t expect, including the reason a married woman was looking for a housemate.
Guest Director: Thom Hofrichter
3rd Place – The Teapot Collector by Jack Peterson (Stage Reading-2 rehearsals only) – Owen Rose is an eighty-two year old white retired school teacher who’s hobby is collecting teapots. He is surprised on day to find a black girl, fourteen-year-old Neda James standing in his family room admiring his collection. After a brief period of verbal sparring, a mutual respect blossoms into what will become a warm friendship. The other ladies in Owen’s life are his bitter niece Madeline Briskin and his dear friend, almost lover, Beverly Colmane. Each of the three is like a teapot in Owen’s priceless collection.
Guest Director: Steve Sarratore

CASTING ATTRIBUTES

Whisper to the Moon: 2 Women, 2 Men

Marcia Mayfield: An elegant, affluent American woman in her late sixties. She is more surprised than anyone to find herself embroiled in a forty-plus year affair in Monaco. She is married to Douglas Mayfield, but her one true love is Charles DÁnjou.

Charles DÁnjou: An equally elegant, well-bred Frenchman. He is also in his sixties or early seventies. He is handsome and romantic and has a lovely French accent.

Carol Mayfield: Marcia’s adult daughter who arrives unannounced from the US. Marcia is a free-spirit and fairly unusual in her tastes. She does not fit in well with the Mayfield family. American, about forty.

Pierre St. Armand: The hotel manager at the resort where Marcia stays each year when she comes to Monaco. He can be any age over sixty, but he is always elegant and dresses impeccably.

Tinfoil Memories: 1 Women, 1 Man, 1 Teenage Girl

Sam: A man in his mid-twenties, mildly frenzy and worried

Gina: A woman around Sam’s age, but considerably more worn

Frieda: A young teenager girl

The Teapot Collector: 1 Man, 2 Women,

1 African-American girl

Owen Rose: A seventy-five year old white man. He is tall, slightly gaunt. There is something distinguished about him.

Neda James: A fourteen year old black girl. Quick witted. By her own admission, she is precocious.

Madeline Briskin: A fifty-something-year-old white woman. Owen’s niece. She is not attractive. She is not unattractive. She is plain.

Beverly Colmane: When they were both much younger, it is possible Beverly and Owen might have become lovers. Instead, they opted to be friends. A wise decision. Bev is in her early sixties.
