The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre Seeks New Location

After almost ten years as the jewel in the Town of Jupiter's crown, The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre (BRIFT) announced plans to move to a new, as yet to be determined, location. BRIFT is presently situated on the development site for Harbourside at the corner of U.S. Highway One and Indiantown Road. The building is scheduled for demolition as part of that project.

In April 2011, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to lease an acre of land in Burt Reynolds Park to BRIFT. A building fund is underway to raise the necessary capital. Plans include space for classrooms, an editing suite and a black box theater. Mega star Burt Reynolds has always adhered to the philosophy of giving back to those who have supported him. With that in mind, the new Institute and Museum are intended to be a home away from home for residents of Palm Beach County and for all visitors to the Sunshine State and to offer resources for learning and perfecting the performance arts.

In the meantime, a temporary home where BRIFT can continue to offer their acting and film making classes as well as present their Saturday Spotlight Series is needed. Family friendly and reasonably priced, these unique one-of-a-kind shows have grown immensely popular with theatre goers. The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre, home of the Burt Reynolds Museum, is a 501(c)3 non-profit in good standing. At its namesake's direction, The Institute is committed to educating and involving the community in all aspects of film, television and theater. BRIFT provides reasonably priced classes to advance and enhance the creative mind, thereby guaranteeing that knowledge of the arts is available to everyone. Additionally, the Museum is charged with preserving Mr. Reynolds' vast collection of Hollywood memorabilia -- the largest collection in the nation.
