Since 1981, Carrollwood Players, Tampa's oldest community theatre company, has provided quality entertainment for the Tampa Bay area. In addition to special events, Carrollwood Players produces nine plays as part of their main stage season: dramas, bedroom farces, mysteries and much more. Season productions typically run for four weekends. Tickets start at $18 and customers can reserve the seats online; season tickets are also available. Carrollwood Players also offers a range of ticket options for those looking for culture and great local theater.

Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street (1980-1984), FAME JR. is the bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work. With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today.

With its topical subject manner, multi-ethnic cast of actors, singers and dancers and high-energy, contemporary pop score, FAME JR. is an ideal musical for young performers and audiences of ALL ages!

Tickets are $18 for adults under 62, $15 for Seniors age 62 and up, students, or military w/ID. Group Discounts Available.

BLACK COFFEE STAGED READING SERIES:
I AM JACQUES DUTRONG

Come see the world premiere staged workshop reading of a new cabaret play with music as our Black Coffee Staged Reading Series hits the stage again on Saturday, August 17 at 11 a.m. I AM JACQUES DUTRONC is about a really famous French singer you've never heard of. You'll love the French music and you'll fall in love with Jacques and Francoise. $10 admission includes coffee, pastries and a chance to give your feedback to the playwright, director and cast!

Come discover NEW WORKS at Carrollwood Players Theatre. Our BLACK COFFEE staged reading series offers playwrights, directors, actors and audiences the opportunity to explore new works of theatre through live readings on our stage.

The series will feature never-before-produced plays performed with minimal rehearsal. The series will include short plays, full length plays and potentially musicals.

Each staged reading will be followed by a talk-back session with the cast, director, playwright and audience.

No props. No costumes. No set. Just words. Heard for the first time. BLACK COFFEE.

CARROLLWOOD IDOL

August 18 - 7:30 p.m.

This fun event is a fundraiser for Carrollwood Players Theatre, Tampa's oldest community theater company and a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable arts organization. Every dollar you spend for voting will go directly to the theater group and help with urgent needs including new lighting equipment and other vital infrastructure required to keep bringing live theater to our community! While this is a talent competition, they thank you AND their contestants because in the end, EVERYONE wins if this contest is a successful fundraiser for our community theater!

YOUR VOTES DECIDE WHO WINS! WATCH CONTESTANTS SING ON STAGE AND THEN CAST YOUR VOTES! 7 SINGERS REMAIN AND ARE COMPETING FOR A GRAND PRIZE OF $1000.

Advance Tickets for the LIVE Final Showdown are just $8 each and must be purchased in advance at www.carrollwoodplayers.org.

Standby tickets may be available on the night of the show and will be $12 each at the door. Come enjoy an evening of great singing as each finalist performs two live songs on stage!

Following the show, there will be an opportunity for audience members to vote for their favorite singer!

Votes are $1 each and there is no limit on the number of votes.

There will also be six judges with supervotes, to ensure that no one wins strictly by popularity.


Tickets for all shows can be purchased via the Carrollwood Players website www.CarrollwoodPlayers.org. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be notified if there is a problem with your reservation. Reserved seats will be held until 15 minutes before show time. In person the day of the show, Carrollwood Players accepts cash or checks only. Credit cards may be used for advanced purchase online. Unless specified above, curtain times are 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00pm on Sundays. The theater lobby will open one hour prior to curtain.
