AMERICAN IDOL's Michael Orland and Peisha McPhee to Join Broadway Theatre Project

The Broadway Theatre Project (BTP) based in Tampa, FL has announced that  American Idol's Musical Director Michael Orland, together with Idol's Vocal  Coach Peisha McPhee, will bring their acclaimed workshop "Find Your Unique  Voice" to BTP this summer.  

Orland is an accomplished composer, musical director, arranger, musician and  vocal coach working in television, theatre and the club scene. For the past  eight years, Michael has been musical director for The Radio City Christmas  Spectacular. He has collaborated with music legends such as Elton John, Quincy  Jones, Tony Bennett, Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka, and Diana Ross, and has made  numerous television appearances including Oprah, The Today Show, and Ellen. 

McPhee is a world-class singer, actress and musical theatre star as well as a  voice teacher who has mentored and coached literally thousands of singers for  two decades making her one of the most sought-after and respected entertainers,  vocal coaches and speakers today. She is the mother of Katherine McPhee, Idol's  Runner Up in season 5 and the hit TV show "Smash", and Adriana, a cabaret  singer, and Idol's newest vocal coach. 

Michael and Peisha work with the Idol contestants to prepare them vocally for  their weekly performances. The two created a partnership outside of Idol to help  aspiring singers to improve their vocal technique and to coach them to most  effectively perform a song.  

Their BTP visit wlll include a personal Q&A session allowing Apprentices to ask  questions about vocal technique, song interpretation, and their experiences on  American Idol. They will also provide information on how to prepare for  auditions. 

Their workshops have been praised for providing excellent professional training  while being presented in an engaging fashion. 

Broadway Theatre Project (BTP), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization celebrating  its 22nd anniversary in 2012, is the renowned musical theatre intensive that  provides its apprentices with critical training in the disciplines of acting,  dancing and singing, taught by a faculty of accomplished educators and  performers. As part of its mission, the program strives to engender students  with the personal skills necessary to work and survive in the professional world  of performing arts. Sessions are held annually every July in Tampa on the  beautiful campus of the University of South Florida. 

Tony-Award-winning actor, singer and dancer Ben Vereen is the Artistic Director  of the Broadway Theatre Project for 2012. Ben was just selected to be included  in the Theatre Hall of Fame.
